I’ve spent a fair amount of time developing resources for folks new to the space. Here are a few of the most helpful pages for real newbies:
- Frequently Asked Questions–a bunch of questions that get asked frequently enough on Reddit’s headphone subreddits that I wanted to stash answers for quick replies.
- Phil’s Audio Glossary–exactly what it says; these are how *I* use a bunch of common audiophile terms. Your mileage may vary.
- My Favorites and Current Setup–a list of the gear that I either own or have owned, with links to reviews where they exist.
- Things I probably won’t review–this a running list of things that I don’t think I will review, based on my philosophy that this is something I do for fun, and it’s more fun to talk about things I like than things I don’t like.
- On My (Skewed!) Rating Scale–per 4, I mostly don’t review stuff I don’t like so here’s a little bit of information about how I score things.
- Hifi 101 Series
- Stereo Building for Dummies (like me)–Basically Hifi 101; an overall guide to building a loudspeaker system. The information should still be good, though some of the products mentioned are out of prduction.
- Hifi 101: Practical Applications–a list of suggested gear and upgrades for various pricing tiers.
- Headfi Audio for Dummies–Basically Headfi 101; an overall guide to building a headphone listening system. The information should still be good, even in the shifting market.
- What Headphone Should I Buy?–a list of suggested gear and upgrades for various pricing tiers. Prices effective as of publication; I will try to update this at some point.
- Phil’s Sheet of IEM Goodness–I don’t really do much in the way of reviews of IEMs, but I definitely have thoughts. These are essentially three or four sentence reviews.
